On December 1, 1955, an African-American woman named Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat at the front of a city bus. She became an icon in the Civil Rights movement in America.

Today is the 60th anniversary of Rosa Parks standing up to racism. Many people used social media to remember the role she played in American history: Many on Twitter also remarked on Rosa Park’s impact in today’s Black Lives Matter movement.
