Commuting is a part of life for nearly everyone. At some point, we all need to use the roads to get to where we are going. However, in some places, commuting comes with risks. Each year, over one million people around the world die on roadways. This number comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, in the United States. The CDC adds that road traffic injuries are estimated to be the eighth leading cause of death globally. And they are the leading cause of death for young people aged 1529. And, it says that by 2030, road traffic injuries could become the seventh leading cause of death around the world. Most of these deaths happen in low- and middle-income countries.
